LAB SAMPLING

PROPERTIES IN BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL

The Brisbane City Council (BCC) requires residents with an HSTP system to have a wastewater permit. To renew your permit each year, you must submit an annual independent laboratory test to the BCC to confirm your HSTP is working properly.

Bioworx completes lab sampling and testing in accordance with Brisbane City Council requirements. Eliminate inconvenience and unnecessary hassle by allowing us to take care of lab sampling for you.

WHAT LAB SAMPLING COVERS

Your standard wastewater lab test examines the three following elements to determine whether your HSTP is functioning properly:

  • Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) – measures the amount of oxygen necessary for bacteria to break down the organic material in your effluent. It should be less than 20mg per litre.

  • Suspended Solids – measures the volume of solid material present in your effluent sample. This should be less than 30mg per Litre

  • Thermotolerant Faecal Coliforms (E.coli.) – measures the effectiveness of your HSTP's effluent disinfection. A properly functioning HSTP system should return a result of less than 200cfu per 100 millilitres.

HOW IT WORKS

A member of the Bioworx team will acquire the necessary samples from your HSTP system. We will then transport these samples to the labs for testing.

We can explain to you how to complete the owner section of the Brisbane City Council Aerobic Sewage Treatment Plant Service Report (DSTS 3). Once we have received the lab test results we can submit the relevant forms straight to the BCC or, if you haven't completed your part of the form, we will forward the report to you, with instructions on completing and forwarding the forms and test results.
